Born January 1, 1940 in Manchester, he was the son of John and Lena (Shank) Marcoux. He was educated in the Manchester school system.
Prior to retirement, he had been a manager with the Center of NH Holiday Inn for many years. Previously, he had worked for 20 years with Goodwill Industries in Manchester.
Robert enjoyed the simple pleasures in life and will be remembered for his generous caring nature. He was proud to be photographed by the Union Leader and heralded as the first child born in Manchester in 1940. He loved watching wrestling and worked as an usher when professional wrestling came to the area. He was a former Cub Master who above all else loved to be in the company of his family.
Members of his family include his wife of 49 years, Lorraine (Andersen) Marcoux of Manchester; one daughter, Suzanne King and her husband Alden of Manchester; five sons, Michael Marcoux and his wife Maryellen of Nashua, Ernest Marcoux and his wife Veronica of Goffstown, Thomas Marcoux and his wife Michelle of Nashua, Robert C. Marcoux Jr. and his wife Roberta of Hudson, Keith Marcoux and his wife Carolann of Londonderry; 22 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; four sisters, Marie Hebert of Auburn, Emilia Belouin of Manchester, Doris Nault of Weare, and Lucille Levesque of Manchester; three brothers, Jean Marcoux of Largo, FL, Eugene Marcoux of Orlando, FL and Paul Marcoux of Elcentro, CA; three sister-in-laws, Rachel Seymour of Maine, Muriel Coco of Manchester, and Linda Courtamanche of FL; many nephews, nieces, and cousins.
The funeral service was held Tuesday, October 27, 2009 in Emmanuel Baptist Church, 14 Mammoth Road, Hooksett, NH.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the American Cancer Society, 2 Commerce Drive, Suite 110, Bedford, NH 03110.
