Robert Sullivan, 80, of Bedford died January 3rd, 2017 at his residence surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Manchester on June 27, 1936, he was the son of Frank and Catherine (Poehlman) Sullivan. He was educated in the local school system and graduated from Bishop Bradley High School. After graduation, he served in the US Army National Guard.
Prior to retirement, he had worked as a meat cutter for Sully's Superette in Manchester for 46 years.
He was a founding member of St. Elizabeth Seton Church in Bedford and was very active in nearly all parish activities. He had spent the last 10 years as a communicant of St. Joseph Cathedral.
Bob enjoyed playing cribbage and bridge with his family and many friends. He was an avid fan of all New England sports teams and especially enjoyed working in his garden. Above all else, he will be remembered as a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend who cherished time spent with family.
The family would like to thank the staff of Compassus Hospice Care in Bedford for the wonderful care they gave Bob during his illness.
He was predeceased by his daughter, Kimberley (Sullivan) Ranfos in 1998 and his brother Frank Sullivan.
Family members include his wife of 56 years, Cecile (Compagna) Sullivan of Bedford; his son, Kevin Sullivan of Bedford; his daughter, Kathleen "Kathy" O'Connell and husband James of Manchester; his grandchildren, Corey, Collin, Katelyn, Ashton, Ryan, Cameron, Molly, Liam, Lily and Aidan; his sister, Maureen Brown of Bedford; his son-in-law, Ken Ranfos of Bedford; nephews, nieces and cousins.
A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated on Saturday, January 7, 2017 in St. Joseph Cathedral. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Bedford, at a later date.
