Born in Manchester on September 5, 1928, he was the son of Arthur and Ida (Lapointe) Gagne. He was a lifelong resident of Manchester.
During the Korean War he served in the U.S. Army with the Army Security Agency in Alaska for two years, then with the Army Reserve for eight years.
Mr. Gagne worked with Northeast Offset in Massachusetts, Rumford Press in Concord and Clarke Press in Manchester for many years. He served as secretary/treasurer of the International Typographers Union, and represented the AFL-CIO as a union representative at the state level.
He was predeceased by three children, Marguerite Gagne in 1954, Charles Gagne in 1999 and Celeste Gagne in 2004.
IN HIS LIFE: The family includes his wife of 58 years, Pauline L. (Simard) Gagne of Manchester; five children, Paul Gagne and his wife, Kathleen, of Weare, Norman Gagne and his wife, Helene, of Salem, Lisa Pierce and her husband, Steve, of Manchester, Gisele Kefferstan and her husband, Joel, of Florida, and Marc Gagne and his wife, Kristen, of Manchester; 14 grandchildren and six great grandchildren; a brother, Robert Gagne and his wife, Lorraine, of Goffstown; and nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Friday, January 15, 2010 at St. Anne/St. Augustin Parish, corner of Beech and Spruce streets, Manchester. Committal prayers followed at Mt. Calvary Mausoleum, 474 Goffstown Rd., Manchester.
