Roger A. Lacroix

Roger A. Lacroix, 83, of Manchester died January 5, 2009 at Concord Hospital after a long illness.

Born in Manchester on October 7, 1925, he was the son of Ludger and Eva (Hebert) Lacroix. He was a lifelong resident of Manchester.

During World War II he served in the US Army. He was captured during the Battle of the Bulge and was a prisoner of war for two years. He was a recipient of the Purple Heart, Good Conduct Medal, Bronze Star and the World War II Victory Medal.

Mr. Lacroix worked for the US Postal Service for 25 years and retired in 1985. He was a life member of the Disabled American Veterans and a member of the American Legion Jutras Post 43 and the Purple Heart Association. He was also a member of the League of 1000 Men of the Precious Blood.

IN HIS LIFE: Mr. Lacroix devoted his life to his family. He loved to sing, but his biggest joy was being with his wife of 61 years.

He is survived by his wife, Rita C. (Groulx) Lacroix of Manchester; eight children, Janet Andrus and her husband, Clayton Andrus Jr. of Weare, Elaine Burleigh and her husband, Donald of Manchester, Paul Lacroix and his wife, Louise of Merrimack, Linda Doherty and her husband, Ed of Georgia, Claudette Billodeau and her husband, Randy of Bedford, Teresa Gladu and her husband, Gary of Allenstown, Jacqueline Grant and her husband, James of Manchester and Leonard Lacroix and his wife, Jennifer of Budapest, Hungary; a daughter in law, Violet Lacroix of Manchester; 22 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his oldest son, Donald R. Lacroix in 1994; a grandson, Craig Stoklosa in 2005 and eight siblings.

His humor, smile and spirit will be deeply missed.

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Friday, January 9, 2009 at Parish of the Transfiguration, corner of Kelley and Youville streets, Manchester. Committal prayers followed in Mt. Calvary Mausoleum, 474 Goffstown Rd., Manchester.
