He was born in Manchester on March 8, 1924, the son of Romeo and Eugene (Talbot) LaRochelle. He was educated in the Manchester school system.
He served in the United States Navy during WWII from 1942 thru1945. He served as Machinist Mate 2nd Class on the USS Pensacola. During this time he served in many battles in the South Pacific ending with the battle of Iwo Jima.
Prior to retirement, he had been employed as a turbine supervisor with General Electric in Lynn, MA for over 35 years. In the early retirement years Roger and his wife Lillian traveled the United States in their motor home and settled in St. Petersburg, FL twenty years ago.
Family members include his wife of 65 years, Lillian (Lavoie) LaRochelle of St. Petersburg, FL; one son, Roger LaRochelle, Jr. and his wife Diane of Beverly, MA; daughter Linda Quince and her husband Philip of Hamilton, MA; granddaughters, Vanessa Uliano and husband Joseph of Peabody, MA; Shana Quince of Salem, MA; his step-granddaughter, Aimee Whitlock of Somerville, MA. He also is survived by his sisters Betty Bourque, Theresa Bourque, Jacqueline Lessard and Susan Audy and his brother Robert LaRochelle, .
He was predeceased by his brother Renald LaRochelle and his grandson Joshua Quince.
A memorial Mass of Christian burial was celebrated in St. Raphael Church on Friday, July 1, 2011. Urn burial with military honors followed at Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
