Roger R. Mercier, Sr., of Manchester, passed away on October 9, 2021, in Fairfax, VA.
Born in Manchester in 1941, he was the son of the late Romeo A. and Rose A. (Cassidy) Mercier. He was a graduate of Bishop Bradley High School and earned his bachelor's degree in finance from New England College. He started his professional career in accounting at Notre Dame Hospital and then served as Chief Financial Officer at Catholic Medical Center. Before retiring in 1999, he was the Chief Financial Officer for Optima Health. Roger also served on the Board of Directors of St. Mary's Bank and was a proud member of the Bedford Rotary Club.
Roger had many passions including traveling, boating, and flying. He was a private pilot and a member of the FL Pelican RV Club. He was a kind and generous man. He loved sports and was a supporter of the arts. Above all else, he will be remembered as a devoted and loving husband, father, and grandfather.
Family includes his beloved wife of 44 years, Emily C. (Merrill) Mercier of Manchester; six children, Michael R. Mercier of Manchester, Paula A. Lyons and husband Michael of Concord, Paul D. Hallock and wife Paula of St. Augustine, FL, Douglas A. Mercier and wife Chamaine of Aurora, CO, Roger R. Mercier, Jr. and wife Zoraida of Dover, and Dawn M. Pariseau and husband Gary of Laconia; sixteen grandchildren; and one great grandchild.
SERVICES: Calling hours are from 4 pm to 8 pm on Thursday, October 21st at Lambert Funeral Home & Crematory, 1799 Elm St., corner of North St., Manchester, NH 03104. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 am on Friday, October 22nd at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 9 St. Francis Way, Litchfield, NH 03052.
