Roland H. Biron, 97, of Manchester, died peacefully on October 11, 2024, at Villa Crest Nursing Home. He was born in Manchester on May 18, 1927 and was a lifelong resident of the city. He was the son of Hilaire and Pauline (Couture) Biron.
He attended Saint Anthony’s Elementary School and graduated from Central High School in 1945. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He attended college in Quebec Canada, Baltimore MD and Saint Anselm’s College, where he graduated in 1954.
On January 8, 1955 he married his beloved wife Lucille (Bouchard).
In his earlier years, he was employed with J. F. McElwain Shoe Company in Manchester. He later graduated from Keene State College and began his 19-year teaching career at Bartlett Elementary School in Pinardville, until he retired in 1987.
He was a gentleman with a kind heart, infectious smile and filled rooms with laughter. He was well known for his gentle and easy-going spirit and knee slapping joy. He seemed to never have a bad day. In his earlier years he had a famous green thumb when it came to growing towering tomato plants and vegetables in his garden. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed doing everything with his wife Lucille. He loved fishing in his boat, ice fishing, camping, and tending to his yard. He was an enthusiastic Red Sox fan and loved listening and dancing to big band music, playing bridge, horseshoes and traveling extensively with his wife. Above all else he loved spending time with his family.
Roland was a very dedicated and caring husband, a wonderful father, grandfather and great grandfather, he will truly be missed by everyone who knew him.
His family members include his daughter Michele Couture, her husband Bill and his son Francis Biron, and his wife Carmen, all of Manchester; four grandchildren, Allison (Couture) Erickson and her husband Brendan, William Couture, Christopher Biron, Gregory Biron and his wife Marcie. Three great-grandchildren; Faye and Bo Erickson and Everett Biron, his sisters-in-law and many nephews and nieces.
He was predeceased by his wife Lucille in 2012, infant daughter Yvonne, infant son Daniel, his sister Constance Caron and brothers Charles Biron and Gilbert Biron.
SERVICES: A calling hour will be held on Tuesday (10/15) from 9am to 10am at St. Peter Parish, 567 Manchester Rd., Auburn, NH. A Mass of Christian Burial will then be celebrated promptly at 10am in St. Peter Parish. Burial will follow in the family lot at Mount Calvary Cemetery, 474 Goffstown Road. For those who wish, memorial contributions may be made in his name to a charity of one's choice.
