Dr. Roland H. Bryan, D.D.S.

Dr. Roland H. Bryan, D.D.S., of Bedford, NH passed away at the age of 91 on the morning of August 11th, 2023.

Roland was born in Bayonne, NJ on October 31, 1931 to Ella and Welsford Bryan. Roland attended Bayonne High School, graduated from Wagner College and Seton Hall School of Dentistry. During this time, Roland met his beloved Marlene, to whom he was married for 48 years until her passing in 2009. After an honorable discharge from the United States Navy, Dr. Bryan opened a private practice in Manchester, NH, where he served the local community for over 50 years. Dr. Bryan was a member of the New Hampshire Dental Society and the International College of Dentistry.

In his later years, Roland remained active in the dental profession. He taught at Tufts Dental School, treated patients at the NH State Correctional facilities and assisted several non-profit dental clinics in Concord and Manchester, NH. 

Roland was a lighthearted, charitable man, with a great sense of humor. Throughout his life, he was always ready to assist people in need. Nothing pleased Roland more than taking his family to the island of Haiti in 1980 to do missionary work. Additionally, Roland was a proud member of the Bedford Presbyterian Church, where he participated in the choir for over 20 years and was recently awarded Deacon. 

Along with his love for dentistry, Roland was passionate about sailing. The perfect day would be sailing with his family on Pleasant Bay in Cape Cod; clear skies, calm seas and a good wind, followed by lunch on an isolated harbor island beach. Roland also enjoyed playing the piano, wearing crisply ironed shirts with a tie, watching cowboy movies, exercising and driving his car.  

Roland is survived by his only sibling and identical twin brother Welsford Bryan and his wife Loretta of Maryville, TN; his two sons, Douglas Bryan of Bedford, NH, and Vero Beach, FL and his wife Leslie and their children Victoria and George; Dr. Roland R. Bryan D.M.D, of Bedford, NH and his wife Dr. Evelyn M. Bryan D.M.D., and their children Gabrielle and Roland; and Doris Guimont, of Bedford, NH, his close friend and companion of the last 8 years.

Services: Calling hours will be held from 5 to 7 pm on Wednesday, August 16th at Lambert Funeral Home & Crematory, 1799 Elm St., corner of North St., Manchester, NH 03104.
