Roland H. Filteau, 75, of Manchester, NH died March 16, 2006 at a local healthcare facility after a period of declining health.
He was born in Goffstown on April 28, 1930, the son of Alcide and Anna (Bourque) Filteau. He was educated in the local schools. During the Korean Conflict, he served in the US Navy and earned several commendations including the United Nations Medal, Korea Medal (2 Stars), and National Defense Medal.
Prior to retirement, he had been employed in sales for Archway Cookies. Previous to that, he had worked for Theodore Bananas, Brookfarm Foods, and Wise Snacks.
He was a former communicant of St. Edmond Parish and was a member of the Knights of Columbus. He was also a member of the League of 1000 Men of the Monastery of the Precious Blood.
He was predeceased by his wife, Jeannette (Chalifour) Filteau in 2004.
He was also predeceased by three brothers, Aime, Albert, and Arthur Filteau, and a sister, Rita Filteau.
Members of his family include a daughter, Rita P. Corriveau of Manchester; three sons, Donald G. Filteau of Bedford, Gerard R. Filteau of Bow, and Marc D. Filteau of Manchester; five grandchildren, Renee and Richelle Corriveau, Nolan, Justin, and Drew Filteau; two brothers, Roger Filteau and Emile Filteau, both of Goffstown; three sisters, Therese Godbout of Manchester, Anita Fraser of Manchester, and Marcelle DeGrandmaison of Arkansas; many nephews and nieces.
A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated in the Parish of the Transfiguration on Tuesday March 21, 2006. Committal prayers followed at Mt. Calvary Cemetery Mausoleum.
