He was born in Manchester on March 21, 1922, the son of Emile and Agnes (Caron) Paradis. Roland graduated from Manchester Central High School in 1940 and prior to retirement in 2003, worked as a letter carrier for the US Postal Service for many years. Roland served in the American, European and Asiatic Pacific Theatre during WWII as a Motor Machinist Second Class aboard the USS Lyon and the USS ABSD-2 Floating Dry Dock.
He was a member of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees as well as a member of Sweeney Post. Roland enjoyed fishing with his grandsons, and puttering around with his tools. He will be remembered as "Mr. Social" by his friends, and as a wonderful husband, father and grandfather, who could never have enough family time.
Family members include his loving wife of 65 years, Lydia M. (Snitko) Paradis of Manchester; one son, Steven Paradis and his wife Denise of Goffstown; one daughter, Judith Tellier of Rochester, NY; three grandsons, Andre-Paul Tellier of Rochester, NY, Timothy Paradis and his wife Emma, of Bedford, NH, Mark Paradis and his wife Christine, of Monroe, CT; a three week old great grand daughter, Prudence; two nieces, Linda Maloney, of Plymouth, MA, Karen DeSimone of Millbury, NJ ; and two nephews, Michael Lowe of Plymouth, MA, David Paradis and his wife Jean, of Westwood, NJ. Roland is predeceased by his sister Evelyn; and two brothers, Lionel and Robert.
A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated on Monday, April 22, 2013 in Parish of Transfiguration, 107 Alsace Street, Manchester, NH 03102. Burial followed in St. Augustine Cemetery.
