He was born in Manchester October 23, 1929 and was the son of Edouard and Antoinette (Blouin) Plourde. He attended local schools, and was a graduate of the class of 1948, from Manchester High School West.
Following graduation, Roland joined the United States Navy, and saw action during the Korean War. He then went on to work as a Locomotive Engineer for the Boston and Maine Railroad, with 39 years of service.
He was a Member of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers, and the American Legion, Sweeney Post #2
In His Life: Family members include his wife, of 59 years, Doris (Rouleau) Plourde, of Manchester; a daughter, Phyllis, and her husband John Byrnes, of Manchester; 3 sons, Kenneth Plourde, of Manchester, Norman Plourde of Pembroke, David and his wife Carol Gagnon, of Henrietta NY; 4 grandchildren, Robert Byrnes, Scott and Jennifer Plourde, Cody Plourde; 2 great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
A memorial service took place in the funeral home chapel on Saturday, October 3, 2009. Burial followed at Mt. Calvary Cemetery 474 Goffstown Rd.
