Roland E. Provencher, 75, of Manchester, died September 20, 2018, after a long period of declining health.
He was born in Manchester on March 25, 1943, the son of Leo and Anita (Paquin) Provencher, and was a lifelong resident of the area. He was educated in Manchester, having graduated from Bishop Bradly High School in 1961. He received an Associate's Degree in Business from Hesser Business College. Roland was drafted and signed up with The Manchester National Guard, Battery A, 197th Field Artillery, serving in Vietnam, receiving a Purple Heart for his heroic acts.
In his career, he worked as a cement mason for various companies. Roland was a dedicated family man and genuinely one of a kind. He was an avid sports fan loving all sports, but especially his beloved New England Patriots. He played semi pro football and was a good athlete overall. He later enjoyed coaching youth sports in Merrimack, NH. He loved working with the kids in football, baseball, and basketball. He loved his pets, lastly Bella his dog, who he adopted shortly before becoming ill.
Roland was predeceased by his son Daniel Provencher, and two brothers Albert Provencher, and Leon Provencher.
Family includes his beloved wife of 55 years Lorraine (Lessard) Provencher of Dunbarton; sons Brian Provencher and his significant other Mary Dolce of Amherst, and Scott Provencher and his wife Doris of Weare; brothers Ronald Provencher of Manchester, and Norman Provencher and his wife Tracey of Manchester; and sisters Denise Lavigne of Auburn, and Diane Provencher of Manchester.
A Funeral Service with military honors was held on Wednesday, September 26, 2018 at the New Hampshire State Veteran Cemetery, 110 Daniel Webster Hwy. Boscawen.
