Romeo A. Demers, 85, formerly of Manchester, died October 24, 2001, at the Meadowview Life Center in Lakeland, FL., after a lengthy illness.
Born in Suncook, April 13, 1916, he was the son of Antonio and Eveline (Belcourt) Demers. He lived most of his life in Manchester and had been a resident of Lakeland, FL. since 1992.
He worked at Ferretti's Market for many years.
Mr. Demers was a Navy veteran of World War II.
He was a lifetime member and past president of the Alpine Club. He was also a former president of the Regional Snowshoers Union as well as the International Snowshoers Union. In addition he was a member of the American Legion, Jutras Post, and the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
He was married to Antoinette "Toni"(Pellissier) Demers, who died in 1990. In addition he was predeceased by a daughter, Patricia Fortin.
Family members include 2 sons, Richard R. Demers of Clinton Township, Michigan, and Mark D. Demers Sr., of Lakeland, FL; a daughter, Lucille Baker of St. Petersburg, FL; 23 grandchildren; 36 great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.
A mass of Christian burial was celebrated October, 29th, at St. George Church, Manchester.
Burial was in Mount Calvary Cemetery.
