He was born in Manchester on May 12, 1923, the son of George P. and Laura (Guillemette) Gosselin. He attended St. Augustin Grammar School and was a 1940 graduate of Manchester High School Central.
During WWII, Romeo served in the United States Marine Corps. He received numerous awards and recognitions for his four years of service, including the three years he spent in the South Pacific.
Prior to retirement, he had been employed by J.F. McElwain Shoe Company for many years. He had also worked for the City of Manchester.
Among his greatest joys was playing the trumpet. He had formed his own band, "The Diamonds" and played at various local establishments for many years.
He was a member of the American Legion, Henry J. Sweeney Post #2 and the Legion of One Thousand Men of the Monastery of the Precious Blood.
Members of his family include his wife of 61 years, Betty (Pepino) Gosselin of Manchester; one sister, Juliette Quilter of Manchester; three brothers, Albert, Maurice, and Louis Gosselin, all of Manchester; several nephews, nieces, and cousins.
He was predeceased by one brother Robert Gosselin.
During WWII, he participated in action against the enemy on nearly a dozen islands, including Iwo Jima, Okinawa, Saipan, and Guam. He received his honorable discharge with the rank of Corporal and was authorized to wear the following ribbons: Asiatic-Pacific (11 stars), American Theater, Presidential Unit Citation (1 star) Philippine Liberation (2 stars), Good Conduct, and Victory Ribbon.
There are no public calling hours. The funeral Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Wednesday at 10 am in St. Pius X Church, corner of Candia Rd. and Sarto St., Manchester. Burial will follow in St. Augustin Cemetery.
