Romeo J. Soucy, 86, of Manchester, died April 13, 2005, at Catholic Medical Center, after a period of declining health.

He was born in Manchester, November 24, 1918, and was a son of Louis J. and Delina (Alie) Soucy. He was a lifelong resident of this city.

Mr. Soucy was a member of the Manchester Fire Department from 1952 to 1977. For many years he organized a group of professional pallbearers that provided service to Manchester area funeral homes.

He was a 3rd Degree member of the Knights of Columbus Council 5260 where he served as religious activities coordinator. He was also a 4th degree member with the Bishop Bradley Assembly. He was a member of the League of 1000 Men of the Precious Blood Monastery. In addition he was a communicant of St. Marie Church and a member of the Sacred Heart League of that parish.

He was predeceased by his wife Lucille (Gagnon) Soucy in 1999, and by a son, Paul R. Soucy in 2000.

Family members include 4 sons, Robert H. Soucy of Hudson, Jean A. Soucy, Armand R. Soucy, both of Manchester, and Gerald R. Soucy of Allenstown; 3 daughters, Doris C. Soucy, Rita Soucy and Denise Fanny all of Manchester; 26 grandchildren; 31 great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated Saturday April 16, 2005 at St. Marie Church, 378 Notre Dame Ave. Committal prayers followed at Mt. Calvary Cemetery 474 Goffstown Rd., Manchester.
