Ronald L. Roy

Ronald L. Roy, 87, of Manchester, died January 7th, 2021 at the Elliot Hospital after a period of declining health.

Born in Suncook on July 25, 1933, he was the son of Sylva and Yvonne (St. Onge) Roy. He attended Pembroke Academy High School and served in the US Navy from 1951-1955.

Following his time in the Navy, Ronald worked various jobs, and completed several adult education certificates to enhance his skill set. In 1962, he assumed a position as a purchasing agent, and quickly became junior partner and comptroller at Tel Labs, Inc. , an electronics firm in Manchester, where he worked for 25 years. During his tenure at Tel Labs, he completed his Associates Degree in 1982 and went on to complete his Bachelors in General Studies from the University of New Hampshire in 1985. In 1987 Ronald went work for the Manchester Transit Authority (MTA) where he worked until his retirement in 1998 as the General Manager, when he received a key to City of Manchester for his work at the MTA. Ronald was a member of the St. Mary's Bank Board of Directors from 1993 – 2005, working as a member, of the Credit Committee and became Chairman of the Credit Committee 2002-2005. Although retired, in 2004, Ronald began work part-time for Hertz Rent-A Car working until August 2019.

In addition to his work, Ronald was active family man. He was committed to providing his children opportunities to grow into well rounded adults with music lessons, skiing adventures, skating, camping, boating and swimming. One of his true loves was hockey, especially with his son. Ronald was a fixture in the greater Manchester hockey community. He served as the President of the Manchester Regional Youth Hockey Associate (MRYHA). He was head coach of the Manchester Flames for many years—where he brought a team to nationals in Fort Wayne, IN. He took great pride in coaching teams in all age groups—from mites to midgets and anything in between.

Ronald was an avid golfer. He was a member of Interval Country Club for many years. He was representative on the Board of Directors, as secretary and treasurer, which he held for many years. Ronald also enjoyed his time at boating, Ossipee Lake—where he would could relax and spend time with his family. Ultimately, Ronald was at his happiest while with his family, including his beloved wife Madeleine.
Ronald was known as a jokester who could bring a smile to anyone's face no matter what the circumstance. Ronald will be greatly missed by the many lives he touched.

He was predeceased by his wife of 51 years, Madeleine G. (Provost) Roy in 2010 and his son, Paul D. Roy in 2017.

Family members include his daughters, Michelle M. Savrann and husband Stephen of Sharon, MA, Lisa A. Roy of Manchester; daughter in law, Jeanine Roy of Manchester, NH: his grandchildren, Jessica (Savrann) Hebert and husband Joel, Danielle (Savrann) Becker and husband Matthew, Andrew Savrann, Spencer and Chandler Duhamel and wife Madeline (Fifer) Duhamel, Chase Fudala, Alexis and Garrett Roy; two great-grandchildren, Milo Paul Hebert and Oakley Louise Hebert; one brother, Norman Roy and wife Janet of Manchester; nephews and nieces.

A graveside service with military burial honors will be celebrated on Friday, May 28th at 2 pm in the NH Veterans Cemetery, Boscawen.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Intervale Country Club, 1491 Front St., Manchester, NH 03102, in Ronald Roy's name.
