Ronald M. Sowa, 69, of Manchester died October 10th, 2018 at his residence surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Manchester on April 4, 1949, he was the son of Maddy and Josephine (Zapora) Sowa. He was educated in the local school system and graduated from Manchester Memorial High School.
Most recently, he had been the Executive Director of the NH Wildlife Federation. Previously, he had been employed by the City of Manchester Water Works Division for 30 years.
Ron loved the outdoors and was active in several local wildlife organizations. Having instructed fly fishing for the NH Fish & Game, he was a member of the Fly Fishers International Board of Directors and also served as vice president of the Fly Fishers International North Eastern Council. Ron was the former president of the Merrimack River Valley Trout Unlimited and current member of the Board of Directors. He was the coordinator of the Fly Fish New Hampshire Show and an instructor at Trout Unlimited Kids Camp. He was a registered NH fishing guide and participated in numerous conservation projects in New Hampshire. Ron was a member of Operation Game Thief and Ducks Unlimited. I
n the past few months Ron had been predeceased by two older brothers, Robert and Maddy Sowa. Family members include his wife of 47 years, Helen (McGuire) Sowa of Manchester; two daughters, Allison Gregory and husband Stew of Hooksett, Kimberly Sowa of Manchester; two grandchildren, Stewart IV and Sam; two brothers, Donald Sowa and companion Gayle Eaton, Richard Sowa and wife Doreen, all of Auburn; nephews and nieces.
The funeral service was held on Monday, October 15, 2018 in the chapel at Lambert Funeral Home & Crematory, 1799 Elm St, Manchester. Burial followed in Holy Trinity Polish National Cemetery, Goffstown.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to NH Wildlife Federation or NH Fish & Game - Operation Game Thief.
