Rosaire U. "Ross" Chaput, 88, of Manchester, died September 9, 2004, at Villa Crest, after a brief illness.
Born in Bedford, October 29, 1915, he was the son of Joseph and Aurelie (Beaudet) Chaput. He lived in Manchester most of his life and in Bedford for several years.
He owned and operated Chaput Oil & Service Co. for 22 years. In addition he served as a Manchester auxiliary police officer for several years having attained the rank of Sgt. He was a certified pipe fitter and had worked as a limousine driver for Ultimate Coach Co. for many years.
He was a 4th Degree member of the Knights of Columbus, Council 92 and a former president of the A.C.F.A. He was a lifelong member of Sacred Heart Church.
Family members include his wife of 64 years, Yvette (Marier) Chaput of Manchester; two daughters, Pauline Jobin and Anita Larochelle, both of Manchester; a son, Normand G. Chaput of Manchester; 7 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren; four sisters, Octavie Rivard of Hollywood, FL, Simone Beliveau, Monique Chamberlain, and Claire Lamontagne, all of Manchester; three brothers, Maurice Chaput, Sylvio Chaput, both of Manchester, and Raymond Chaput of Virginia Beach, VA; many nieces & nephews.
He was predeceased by 4 siblings, Olivette St. Hilaire, Lena Bergeron, Raoul Chaput and Gerard Chaput. A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated Monday September 13, 2004 at Sacred Heart Church. Burial followed in Mount Calvary Cemetery.
