Rose (Noovart) Arthur, 92, of Manchester, passed away at her residence on July 29, 2017.
Born in Manchester, NH on September 24, 1924, she was the daughter of Aram and Geneva Yevniga (Mooradian) Arthur, who both immigrated to the United States from Armenia. Her parents knew of each other back in the old country, but it wasn't until they were in America that they became a couple and married.
Rose was a graduate of Maynard Elementary School and Manchester High School Central, Class of 1942. Rose worked at the family business, Arthur's Fruit, from the age of 11. She was co-proprietor of Arthur's Fruit for many years with her brother and sister, after they took over the family store that their father Aram started.
Besides her love of her family and their business, she also loved the beach and often spoke of going to Hampton Beach in the morning with her sister Lucy, before going to work at the store. She loved her family immensely and being among friends. Rose also loved traveling with her sister, whom she went on cruises and other trips. They travelled to Florida, Hawaii, Las Vegas, Niagara Falls and San Francisco, among other places. Rose often spoke of her trips, that she said she and Lucy would not have taken them, had her mother not told them to.
Rose was predeceased by her parents; her brother Alfred "Fritz" Arthur in 1992; and her sister Lucy Arthur in 2003. There are no immediate family members.
She leaves behind a cousin, Carol Vorperian, of Long Island, NY.
A funeral service was held on Tuesday, August 15, 2017 at First Congregational Church, 508 Union St., Manchester, NH. Burial followed in Pine Grove Cemetery, Calef Rd., Manchester. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to the NH Association for the Blind, McGreal Sight Center, 25 Walker St., Concord, NH 03301.
