Roy F. Grieder Sr, 101, of Manchester, died March 7, 2018 at his home after a brief illness.
He was born in Paterson, NJ on May 21, 1916 to Charles and Freda (Dietler) Grieder. He lived in Fair Lawn, NJ for many years before moving to Manchester 15 years ago.
During World War II he served in the U.S. Army Air Corps. He was a member of the Riverside Vets in Paterson, the American Legion and was a Mason.
Roy retired as vice president at Interstate Dye and Finishing Corporation in Passaic, NJ where he worked for many years. He enjoyed traveling, reading, working on puzzles and playing pool.
He was predeceased by his wife of 70 years, Edith F. (Beasley) Grieder in 2014.
The family includes three sons, John C. Grieder and his wife, Hannelore, of Tarpon Springs, FL, Roy F. Grieder Jr and his wife, Terri, of Henniker and Dr. Kevin T. Grieder of Seguin, TX; five grandchildren, Erin Neglio, Megan Lyons, Ashley Waxler, Kristy Grieder and Adam Grieder; and two nieces.
The family would like to thank the staffs at Birch Hill and the Visiting Nurse Association, both in Manchester, for the loving care they provided to Roy.
A memorial service was held on Tuesday, March 13, 2018 at Lambert Funeral Home & Crematory, 1799 Elm St., corner of North Street, Manchester. Private interment will be at the NH State Veterans Cemetery in Boscawen at a later date.
