Russell G. Labbe, 67, of Milford, died November 14, 2019 at Elliot Hospital in Manchester of complications from a recent stroke.
He was born in Manchester on January 29, 1952 to Maurice and Pauline (Peat) Labbe. He was a member of the last graduating class at the former Peterborough High School in 1970 then enlisted in the U.S. Coast Guard where he served until 1976. While in the Coast Guard he graduated from the Culinary Institute of America in New York City. He also earned an associate's degree from Massasoit Community College in Brockton, MA and did further studies at Hesser College in Manchester and Boston State College.
Russell was the marketing and sales manager of Northeast Insta-Blend in Milford for many years. He had also owned and operated Seven Seas Ship Model Company in Norwood, MA and was purchasing agent and director of the Ship Model Division of James Bliss Marine and Company in Dedham, MA.
He was a member of the American Legion Post 88 in Loudon, the Coast Guard Memorial Committee at the NH State Veterans Cemetery in Boscawen and was president of the Milford Taxpayers Association.
Russell enjoyed bicycling and had cycled across the U.S. as part of the TransAmerica Bicycle Trek for the American Lung Association in 1989. He also enjoyed tournament fishing, boating, ship model restoration and had panned for gold in Montana and spent time in the Yukon.
Life was always an adventure to Russell and he was a master at focusing upon the priorities and the importance they play.
He was predeceased by his father.
The family includes his wife of 31 years, Jane L (Martineau) Labbe of Milford; a son, Russell G. Labbe Jr of Harwich, MA; two grandsons, Russell G. Labbe III and Kristofer Labbe; his mother of Manchester, two siblings, Francis M. Labbe, Secular Franciscan of Manchester and Lynnanne L'Abbee and husband, Curt Martin of Shelbyville, KY; a niece, Heather A. L'Abbee and husband, Rob Snow of Manchester; a grandniece, Leah Spaulding: and aunts, uncles and cousins.
A cemetery committal service was held on Tuesday, November 19, 2019 at the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery, 110 Daniel Webster Highway, Boscawen.
