She was born on August 21, 1919 in South Boston, the daughter of Conrad and Emma Schreffler.
Many summers were spent at Glen Lake in Goffstown, NH where she met her future husband William "Willie" Boettcher. They were married on October 12, 1940 and Ruth was a loving wife and devoted mother.
Ruth was an active member of the St. Raphael Parish community. She ran the bingo operation and directed several ministry productions. She served as president and was a life member of the parish's Women's Guild. She was president of Turnverein Sisters as well.
She was affiliated with the Democratic Party and active in local politics.
She was a secretary at St. Raphael's School and then moved on to be the administrative assistant to the President of St. Anselm's College until her retirement.
During her married life she continued to summer at Glen Lake with her family.
Ruth enjoyed traveling to many places and being a devout Catholic. The highlight of her travels was her visit to Rome with a private family audience with the Pope. The Boettcher family would like to express a most sincere "Thank You" to all the staff at St. Teresa's Nursing and Rehab for the kind and caring attention given to Ruth during her stay. They truly make the world a better place.
Ruth was predeceased by her husband Willie in 2009, five brothers and four sisters.
She leaves three children, William Boettcher Jr. and wife Karen of Indio, CA, Robert Boettcher and wife Lois of Manchester, Peter Boettcher and wife Donna of Weirs Beach, NH; her grandchildren, William Boettcher III, P.H.D and wife Becky of Cary, NC, Craig Boettcher of Melbourne, FL, Karl Boettcher of Pittsburgh, PA; great-grandchildren, Abigail and Andrew Boettcher of Cary, NC; several nephews, nieces, and cousins.
A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated on Thursday, April 25, 2013 in St. Raphael Church, Walker St. Burial followed in Pine Grove Cemetery.
