Ruth A. Okeefe

August 5, 1916 — March 4, 2011

Ruth A. O'Keefe, 94, of Manchester, died March 4, 2011 at St. Teresa Manor following a period of declining health.

She was born in Attleboro, MA, August 16, 1916 and was the daughter of John and Helena (McDonald) Antaya. She was a graduate from Attleboro High School and from Simmons College She later received an MAT in biology from Rhode Island College.

She worked as a cancer research assistant for Brown University.

She also taught biology at the Dighton-Rehoboth Regional High School for 15 years.

She enjoyed spending time with her family reading and entertaining her friends.

Members of her family include two daughters, Donna J. Connare and Susan E. Snay both of Manchester; a son, James T. O'Keefe of Norton MA; a sister, Hope McCaffrey of Middleboro, MA; 7 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

IN HER LIFE: She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 20 years, Thomas O'Keefe; two sons, Thomas O'Keefe Jr. and Myles J. O'Keefe; and two brothers, John Antaya and Donald Antaya.

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Tuesday, March 8, 2011 in St. Marie Church, 378 Notre Dame Ave. Burial will be in St. John Cemetery, Attleboro Ma. in the spring.
