Sandra "Sandi" Skalkeas

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Sandra “Sandi” Skalkeas, 80, of Manchester, NH, who passed away peacefully on May 9, 2025 after a long battle with Alzheimer’s.

Born on February 11, 1945, in Exeter, England, Sandi was the daughter of Patricia (Chatfield) McCarthy. She moved to the United States in 1946 as a young child.

Sandi attended Hesser College and spent many years working in the marketing department at the Union Leader. She enjoyed spending time at her beach home in Hampton, NH, and had a passion for interior design.

A loving wife, mother, and grandmother, Sandi was also active in her community. She was a member of the New Hampshire Professional Women’s Association and served on the Manchester School Board

She is survived by her son, Alex Skalkeas and his wife Tina of Goffstown; her daughter, Christine Skalkeas of Manchester; her beloved granddaughter, Alexis Anne Skalkeas; and two sisters, Shauna McCarthy of Manchester and Kathleen Leven of Bow.She is joined in rest by her husband of 40 years, Alex J. Skalkeas in 2008.

SERVICES: Calling hours will be Thursday, May 15th, from 10am to noon at Lambert Funeral Home & Crematory, 1799 Elm St, in Manchester. Followed by a brief service in the funeral home chapel.

Burial will be in the NH Veterans Cemetery at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial donation may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association at alz.org
