Scott Johnson, 68, of Hooksett, passed away suddenly while doing what he loved most—hiking and enjoying the outdoors. Born on May 15, 1958, in Manchester, New Hampshire, he was the son of Alfred and Patricia Johnson.
Scott dedicated 35 years of his career to PSNH before recently retiring. Retirement never slowed him down. He continued serving his community as a part-time court officer, but his greatest joy and proudest title was simply “Papa” to his beloved grandchildren. Nothing meant more to him than spending time with his family.
Scott is survived by his wife of 45 years, Maria Johnson; his three daughters, who were the center of his world: Meghan Lawner and her husband, Alex, and their children, Grahame, Addisyn, and Tennley; Mandi Bistran and her husband, Alex, and their children, Hadley and Hayden; and Lindsay George and her husband, Casey; his parents, Alfred and Patricia Johnson; and his sister, Linda Lemay and her partner, Skip Marshall. He is also survived by his many beloved nieces and nephews, four cherished granddogs, and countless extended family members and friends who loved him dearly.
Scott found happiness in life’s simple moments. Whether he was hiking a new trail, cheering from the sidelines at his grandchildren’s games and activities, tackling house projects at his daughters’ homes, or lending a hand to anyone who needed it, he was happiest when he was helping others. Selfless to his core, he never hesitated to give his time, his talents, or his heart. If someone needed help, Scott was there. His family knew that no matter the problem, one call to Dad and he would be there.
To know Scott was to know genuine kindness. He was truly the salt of the earth—humble, dependable, hardworking, and endlessly generous. He was the kind of man who quietly showed up, never expected anything in return, and made everyone’s life a little easier simply by being there. His steady presence, gentle spirit, and unwavering love for his family touched countless lives. He was the best husband, father, Papa, son, brother, uncle, and friend anyone could ask for.
Scott’s sudden passing leaves an immeasurable void in the hearts of all who knew and loved him. While his family is devastated by this unimaginable loss, they find comfort in knowing he spent his final moments doing something that brought him peace and joy. His legacy of kindness, selflessness, quiet strength, and unconditional love will live on through the family he adored and the many lives he touched.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Scott’s life during calling hours on Thursday, July 9, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Lambert Funeral Home, 1799 Elm Street, Manchester, NH. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, July 10, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Pius Church, 575 Candia Road, Manchester, NH.
