Sharon Lee (Stiles) Baker, 69, of Manchester, adored wife, mother and grandmother, died on September 28, 2016 at Mt. Carmel Rehabilitation & Nursing facility surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Galveston, TX on October 2, 1946, she was the daughter of James H. Stiles Jr., and Doris L. (Hegman) Stiles. She was a graduate of Texas City High School, earned her Bachelor's Degree from Rivier College (Nashua, NH) and her Master's Degree from Regis University (Denver, Co). Sharon was employed with the federal government for 36 years. She began her career with NASA during the Apollo Space Program and retired in 2002 as Program Manager with the U.S. Air Force at the Pentagon. Sharon received numerous awards and commendations during her illustrious career.
Sharon was an active member of the community. She was a long time member of Toastmaster's International. A devout catholic, Sharon served as Eucharistic minister for local hospitals. She was President of St. Christopher Parish Council in Nashua, NH and was the prayer line coordinator at St. Pius Church in Manchester, NH. In more recent years, Sharon was the President of the Mt. Carmel Residence Board. In her spare time she enjoyed reading, scrapbooking, and was proficient in genealogy. Sharon was a passionate, highly motivated, and intelligent woman. Family was extremely important to her. She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend.
Family members include her high school sweetheart and loving husband of 50 years, Roger L. Baker, Sr. of Manchester; her daughter, Laura A. Pettengill and son-in-law Edmund, granddaughters Mary E. Pettengill and Sarah C. Pettengill all of Williamsburg, VA; her son Roger L. Baker, Jr. and daughter-in-law Karen, and grandsons Matthew C. Baker and Christopher J. Baker of Manchester; brother, James H. Stiles III and sister-in-law Leticia, and brother Carl P. Stiles all of Spicewood, TX; and a large extended family.
A Catholic Funeral Service was celebrated on Monday, October 3, 2016 at the Chapel at Mt. Carmel Rehabilitation & Nursing facility, 235 Myrtle Street, Manchester, NH. Sharon will be cremated and interred at the Mount Calvary Cemetery and Mausoleum in a private ceremony at a later date.
