Sharyn B. Kelley, 75, of Manchester died September 5, 2024 after a 2 year battle with cancer.
Born in West Warwick, RI on June 30, 1949, she was the daughter of Kenneth and Beverly (Thomas) Boss. She was a graduate of Manchester High School West. Sharyn lived the majority of her life in Manchester NH.
Sharyn’s life work was helping people find the perfect home. She was first licensed as a real estate agent in 1974 and purchased Suburban Realty in 1976. In 2018 she blended her company with Verani Realty and she continued working right up to the time of her death. Real Estate was her career but it was also her passion and a large part of her social life. She made lasting friendships with her colleagues and clients and she thoroughly enjoyed her 50 year career selling homes throughout NH.
Sharyn is a member of the Greater Manchester Board of Realtors where she held positions in various committees throughout the years. She has also been involved in many community organizations including the Manchester Kiwanis Club, The Real Estate Advisory Board at St Mary’s Bank, sponsoring local youth sports and fundraising for various charities. Sharyn also provided real estate services for the city of Manchester, working with the assessors office and tax collector.
From 1987-2001 Sharyn coached the Manchester Central High School cheerleading team, helping them to win many state titles. One of her proudest accomplishments was recruiting a group of football players to join the team to compete in the CoEd division. She became more than a coach to many of her athletes and she maintained relationships with them throughout her life.
Sharyn was very involved in local politics and participated in the Manchester voting system for the past 30 years. She was an election official for Ward 1 for over 12 years and most recently held the office of Moderator of Ward 1 for the past 6 years. Sharyn was a fixture at Webster School during poll time and was famous for the homemade oatmeal raisin cookies she baked for her co-workers.
Sharyn had many hobbies and pastimes. She loved baking and cooking and trips to Mohegan Sun where she could be found on the five-dollar Wheel of Fortune machine. She loved renovating homes, gardening, and any house project. In her younger years, she enjoyed racquetball and especially playing in tournaments with her doubles partner, Shannon. In recent years, she enjoyed playing in a bowling league with friends. Sharyn is a life-long, avid fan of the Boston Celtics. This past season she purchased identical Celtics T-shirts for a close group of friends and family and frequently organized nights out to watch together. She loved concerts, sporting events, and tailgating at Jimmy Buffet shows. She enjoyed entertaining by her pool, reading a good book on her porch, and always had friends over for a cup of tea. Sharyn also loved a good prank & often secretly placed ridiculous items in peoples yards under the cover of night. She was a lover of animals, took in many strays and had so many beloved pets throughout the years. She was known to always have a bird, a cat and a dog.
Despite having a busy career and active social life filled with friends and activities, Sharyn’s most favorite times were spent with her daughter Cassie and her beloved granddaughter Rachel. She was a constant in their daily lives at all times. Sharyn frequently traveled throughout the US with them to watch Rachel participate in competitive cheerleading. One of her most cherished memories was watching Cassie and Rachel win their first World Championship in 2015. Every year in FL, she looked forward to days at the Disney Parks riding roller coasters with Rachel, watching the Disney parades together and fireworks at night. Cassie was fortunate to work alongside Sharyn at Suburban Realty for many years. They also coached the Central cheerleading team side by side for some time. Sharyn was later instrumental in helping Cassie start her own business, often working at the gym because she loved to be involved with the athletes, their parents and the staff. Sharyn was present for every single event in their lives. She cooked them dinners constantly, renovated their homes with them, and spent many summer days sitting by the pool together. She loved spending time at the beach in various locations and beach homes. Recently, she vacationed in Seabrook over the 4th of July week with Cassie, Rachel and Lennon as well as many friends.
Sharyn is survived by her daughter, Cassie Bienvenue, and her granddaughter, Rachel Bienvenue, both of Manchester. She is also survived by her parrot, Charlie, and her beloved dog and faithful companion, Lennon. Sharyn had a unique ability to create life-long friendships and is also survived by a very wide circle of treasured friends who she valued deeply. Sharyn spent her final days surrounded by countless visitors and 4 friends who are more like family, Judy Vitale, Ann Lally, Shannon Levandowski, and Terry Sanders. She passed peacefully close to the people she loved most. Lastly, Sharyn is survived by her “other” children, Stacy Skafas and Ronnie DiBurro and her “other” granddaughter, Maddie Preston. Sharyn will be greatly missed and forever cherished by her family & all who knew her.
