Shirley A. Tosatti

Hampton, NH

   Shirley Ann (Cronin) Tosatti, died in Hampton, NH on May 10, 2024, at Cornerstone at Hampton, after a period of declining health. She was 86.

   She was born on September 18, 1937 in New Britain, CT to William and Irene (Gaffney) Cronin.  

   She attended parochial schools in New Britain and graduated from New Britain High School in 1955. She graduated from the Teacher's College of Connecticut (now Central Connecticut State University) in 1959, where she trained to pursue her lifelong vocation as a public school teacher. She taught at schools in Texas, California, Maryland and taught at Central High School in Manchester for many years. She loved being a schoolteacher and was a voracious reader.

   She was a woman of conviction and a loving and supportive wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, daughter, friend, colleague and neighbor.

   She was an active communicant of St. Catherine of Siena Church in Manchester, NH for decades and had resided in Manchester for 52 years.

   In retirement, she and her teacher friends took a long-desired cruise and whitewater rafting trip to Alaska. She and her husband traveled to many countries in Europe with a travel group and spent many winters in Florida. Later, she volunteered her time teaching immigrants and prison inmates to read.

   She leaves behind her husband of 64 years, George S. Tosatti of Hampton, NH: two children, Margaret Nelson of Manchester, NH and David Tosatti, and his wife, Shannon Tosatti, of Stratham, NH; six grandchildren: Anthony MacQueston of Denver, CO, Derrick Nelson of Denver, CO Elizabeth MacQueston of Manchester, NH, Emily Tosatti of Boston, MA, and Nicholas Tosatti and Abigail Tosatti both of Stratham, NH; two brothers-in-law, Michael Castellucci of New Haven, CT and Frank Applegate of Vero Beach, FL; and several nieces and nephews. 

   She was predeceased by four siblings, William Cronin, Kathleen Tanguay, Thomas Cronin and Irene Castellucci.

   SERVICES:  Calling hours are Wednesday (5/15) from 4 to 7 p.m. at Lambert Funeral Home & Crematory, 1799 Elm St., Manchester, NH. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday (5/16) at 12 p.m. at St. Catherine of Siena Church, 267 Webster St., Manchester, NH.

Private interment at the NH State Veterans Cemetery in Boscawen, NH will take place at the convenience of the family.

   Memorial donations may be made to St. Catherine of Siena Church, 207 Hemlock St., Manchester, NH 03104.
