Sister Florence Pelletier, CSC, (Sister Mary of St. Thomas of Canterbury) age 95, died February 9, 2016 at her residence after a period of declining health.
She was born in New Bedford, MA on April 20, 1920, the daughter of Raymond and Delia (Jussaume) Pelletier. Sister Florence entered the Congregation of the Sisters of Holy Cross in 1942 and made her final profession in 1949. She served the Congregation for 73 years.
Sister Florence earned a BA from Notre Dame College in Manchester and an MA from Bonaventure University, NY. She taught in elementary schools under the direction of the Sisters of Holy Cross in Springfield, MA; Rochester, Nashua, and Manchester, NH. Sister also taught High School at St. Anthony and Trinity High Schools in Manchester, NH. Sister Florence will long be remembered for her wonderful sense of humor and her love for life, expressed through her many jokes and songs. Sister retired to St. George Manor in 2005.
Sister Florence was predeceased by her sister Jeannette Lamothe and her brother Louis Pelletier. She is survived by several nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated on Thursday, February 11, 2016 at St. Pius X Church, 575 Candia Road, Manchester, NH. Burial will take place in St. Augustin Cemetery, Manchester.
