Sister Lucie Ducas, 81, a member of the Sisters of Holy Cross for more than 60 years, died May 5, 2018 at Holy Cross Health Care Center in Manchester.
She was born in Nashua, NH February 26, 1936 to Henri T. Ducas and Dolorosa Rochette. She received her BA from Notre Dame College in Manchester and her MA from Salve Regina College in Newport, RI.
Sister Lucie was totally committed to faith education and loved being an advocate for those in need. Her teaching ministry spanned over 55 years. She taught in MA, NH, and CT. In 1983 the Diocese of Manchester awarded her with a certificate of recognition for her dedication as an "outstanding example of professionalism and Christian service to the local parish community." Prior to her illness in 2017, she served as pastoral associate for the twined parishes of St. Mary's and St. Peter's.
She leaves a brother, Normand Ducas of Saugerties, NY; and numerous nieces, nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews. She was predeceased by two siblings, Conrad Ducas and Rose Tessier.
She loved and was loved by many. May she now rest in Peace.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Thursday, May 10, 2018 at the Sisters of Holy Cross, 357 Island Pond Rd., Manchester. Burial followed in St. Augustin Cemetery, Manchester.
