Sister Mariette Plante, (Sr. Ste Marie-de-Lorette), 83, died October 30th, 2016 at St. Joseph Residence after a period of declining health.
Born in West Warwick, RI on October 4, 1933, she was the daughter of Rene and Noella (Parenteau) Plante. Sister Mariette obtained a BA and an MA in English at Rivier College and followed post-graduate studies at Boston College. She made her Religious Profession on August 15th, 1954.
She taught and was principal of various elementary and high schools in New Hampshire. She gave Summer Courses at Rivier College and was assistant superintendent for elementary and secondary schools in the Diocese of Manchester. Sister Mariette was provincial superior in the Manchester Province from 1988 to 2000. She retired at St. Joseph's Residence II in 2014.
She was pre-deceased by her parents and her brother Rene. She is mourned by her brother Roger and his wife Janice in South Carolina as well as nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated on Friday, November 4, 2016 in the Resurrection Chapel of Ste. Marie Residence, 495 Mammoth Road.
Burial followed in Presentation of Mary Cemetery, Hudson, NH.
