Sixta immigrated to the United States with her husband and 6 children in 1959 eventually establishing her home in Manchester in 1966.
For ten years, Sixta worked as a secretary at Catholic Medical Center. In her spare time she volunteered at the American Cancer Society, and the American Lung Association.
Sixta enjoyed gardening, scrap booking and sunny days at the beach with her family. Her extraordinary faith and strong ties to her church were evident in her daily life. She will be forever missed.
Family members include her children; Armando and his wife Joan, Diego, Humberto, Edmundo, Nancy, Patricia Carty and her husband, Tom, all of Manchester, Gisela Catano Mahoney and her husband Ed of Deerfield; 19 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was predeceased by her husband Leo Catano, in 1990.
A funeral Mass of Christian burial was celebrated on Monday, April 9, 2012 at St. Catherine of Sienna Church, Webster St. Manchester.
Memorial donations can be made in honor of her granddaughter Lisa to the Epilepsy Foundation of NH, 540 Gallivan Boulevard, Dorchester Ctr, MA 02124 or St. Catherine of Sienna School Reading Program, 206 North St. Manchester, 03104.
