Sophie S. "Stefie" Dlugosz

Sophie S. "Stefie" Dlugosz, 100, of Hooksett, died November 23, 2017, at St. Teresa's Nursing Home, with her loving family by her side.
Born in Manchester on April 23, 1917, she was the daughter of Wojciech and Jozepha (Spiewak) Michalski. She worked with her late husband Rudolph in the family owned oil business, R.J. Dlugosz Oil.
Being the oldest living citizen of Hooksett, Sophie was awarded the Boston Post Cane by the town in 2016. She was a communicant of Holy Trinity Cathedral and a member of the Adoration of the Most Blessed Sacrament. She was also a member of the Ladies Adoration Society, the Maria Konopnieka, Sponia Branch #213, Holy Trinity Seniors, Hooksett Woman's Club, and the Hooksettites.
As a daughter of Polish immigrants, Sophie was very proud of her heritage and traveled to Poland to visit relatives. She also enjoyed traveling to many states in the US and the Caribbean Islands. She cherished time spent with her family and friends. Easter and Christmas were a special time for her to cook traditional Polish meals and entertain her family, the center of her life. Summers were spent with family at their cottage on Newfound Lake. Above all, Sophie will be remembered as a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandma, Babci and aunt.
Sophie was predeceased by her loving husband of 54 years, Rudolph J. Dlugosz, in 1995.
Family includes one daughter, Eileen J. Labrecque and husband Paul of Hooksett; one son, Rudolph J. Dlugosz of Templeton, CA; six grandchildren Jeff Labrecque and wife Jennifer of Hooksett, Scott Labrecque and wife Marybeth of Bow, Peter Dlugosz and wife Victoria of Georgia, Lauren Farahnak and husband Pedrum of CA, Alison Miller and husband Chris of CA, and John Dlugosz of CO; twin great grandchildren, Alexander and Jason Labrecque of Hooksett, and Melanie and Kate Labrecque of Bow; great granddaughter, Emily Miller of CA; three nieces, Phyllis Heaney, Carol Hull, and Diane Hollinsworth; and several great nieces and nephews, and cousins. She was also predeceased by her sister, Stella Zarnowski.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Monday, November 27, 2017 at Holy Trinity Polish Church, 166 Pearl St., Manchester. Burial followed in Holy Trinity Cemetery, Goffstown. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to: Holy Trinity Cathedral, 166 Pearl St., Manchester, NH 03104; Tree of Life at St. Teresa Nursing Home, 519 Bridge St., Manchester, NH 03104; or to a charity of one's choice. The family would like to thank the staff of St. Teresa for their loving care and support.
