Sr. Cecile Lebeau

Sr. Cecile Lebeau, CSC (Sr. Marie de Ste. Cecile, martyre), of the Sisters of Holy Cross passed away on March 19, 2021 at the age of 100.

She was born in New Bedford, MA to Charles Arthur Lebeau and Marianne (Lavallee) Lebeau. She entered the Congregation of the Sisters of Holy Cross in 1939 and pronounced her final vows in 1946.

In 1941, Sr. Cecile began her elementary teaching career in Baie Comeau, Canada and in 1943 returned to the U.S. to teach in Massachusetts and Vermont. Her high school teaching career started in 1963 in New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Vermont and Maine. From 1975 to 1993 she was a principal in Massachusetts. From 1994 until retiring in 2015 at Holy Cross Health Center, Sr. Cecile lived and served in St. Albans, VT as teacher, catechist RCIA and home visitations.

She will be remembered for her joyful smile and her acceptance of God's will. Her love of words shone through in her compositions, poetry and in the games she created using each one's name.

Sr. Cecile was predeceased by her parents and five siblings.

She is survived by her three youngest siblings, Lucille Lebeau, Marie Bolger and John Lebeau and his wife, Patricia; and several nieces and nephews.

SERVICES: Services will be held at a later date. Private burial is at St. Augustin Cemetery, Manchester, NH.
