Sr. Eileen Auger, CSC

   Sr. Eileen Auger, CSC, 77, of the Sisters of Holy Cross, passed away on June 7, 2024.

   She was born in Manchester on November 28, 1946, to Henry J. Auger, Jr. and Dora (Fanny) Auger.   She entered the Congregation of the Sisters of Holy Cross in 1964 and pronounced her final vows in 1971.

   From 1966 to 1983 Sr. Eileen taught grades 1 through 3 in Massachusetts, Connecticut and New Hampshire.  In 1983, while on a sabbatical at Londonderry House in Londonderry, Sr. Eileen began her ministry of clinical pastoral care at Lowell General Hospital.  Of that ministry, Sr. Eileen said “caring for the sick, spiritually and emotionally, is at the heart of my ministry. Working here allows me the fulfillment of who I am as a person, a religious woman and a chaplain”.   It was a ministry she lovingly carried out until she retired in 2013, however, Sr. Eileen never retired from caring for others. 

   She is predeceased by her parents.

   Surviving family members include her sister, Cecile (Auger) Brasley; her brother Dennis Auger and his wife, Elaine; one niece, Elaine and her husband Stephen; one nephew, Raymond; ten grandnieces and grandnephews; a longtime and very dear friend, Doris St. Pierre from Rochester; and many friends at Bedford Greens. 

   SERVICES:  Calling hours are Wednesday (6/19) from 2 to 4 p.m., with prayers at 3 p.m. at St. George Manor Chapel, 357 Island Pond Rd., Manchester.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday (6/20) at 9 a.m. at St. George Manor Chapel.

   In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to ‘Sisters of Holy Cross Development Office Fund’ and mailed to Sisters of Holy Cross, 365 Island Pond Rd., Manchester, NH 03109.

   Lambert Funeral Home & Crematory, Manchester is assisting with arrangements.
