Sr. Estelle Neveu

          Sister Estelle Neveu, CSC, (Sister Cecile-Estelle) 94, of the Sisters of Holy Cross passed away on November 28, 2023.

          She was born in Nashua, NH on June 5, 1929, to Evangelis Neveu and Evangeline (Rochette) Neveu.

          She entered the Congregation of the Sisters of Holy Cross in 1948 and pronounced her final vows in 1955.

          Sister Estelle began her teaching career in Cornwall, Ontario, Canada, and in the later part of 1950 through 1974 she taught grades one and two in Somersworth, Manchester, and Salmon Falls in New Hampshire.

          In 1973 Sister received a Master of Arts degree in Library Science from Rosary College, River Forest, Illinois.  Thus began her ministry as a librarian in New Hampshire local schools.  In 2008, Sister Estelle dedicated her time to the Ministry of Prayer.  In 2022 she was admitted to Holy Cross Health Center where she spent her final days.

          Sister Estelle is predeceased by her parents, her brothers, Brother Edgar (Lionel), Edgar, Roger, and Brother Roger (Silvio) and her sisters, Sister Cecile Neveu, Yvonne, Mrs. Rita Blouin Neveu, Mrs. Jeanne d’Arc Gamache Neveu, Mrs. Therese Payeur Neveu.

          Surviving family members include several nieces and nephews and grand-nieces and nephews.  She also leaves behind her faithful and loving friend, Sister Claudette Gagnon as well as Sr. Claudette’s family.

          Sister Estelle will best be remembered for her sense of humor and gratitude.

          Calling hours will take place on Wednesday, December 6^th from 2 to 4 pm in St. George Manor Chapel, 357 Island Pond Road, Manchester, NH.  Sharing of memories will begin at 3 pm within the context of viewing hours.  A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Thursday, December 7, 2023, at 9 am.

          In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to “Sisters of Holy Cross Development Office Fund” and mailed to Sisters of Holy Cross, 365 Island Pond Road, Manchester, NH 03109.
