Sr. Frances Lessard, CSC

Sister Frances Lessard, CSC, (Sister Rose-Frances), 89, died on December 19, 2017 at the Elliot Hospital after a brief illness.
Born in Manchester on October 5, 1928, she was the daughter of Herve and Rose (Langlois) Lessard.
Sister Frances was a member of the Sisters of Holy Cross for over 70 years. She earned a Bachelor's degree in English from Notre Dame College in 1958; Master's degree in English from Boston College in 1966; and PhD in Higher Education from Boston College in 1980.
Sister Frances was an educator of elementary, junior and senior high schools for 20 years. She also served as Vice Principal in charge of Student Affairs at Trinity High School. Her involvement in college level education began at Notre Dame College in 1972, as Assistant to the Academic Dean and then Academic Vice President. In 1987, she became the Founder and Director of Academic Advising until the college closed in 2002. She served as Director of Academic Advising and Student Advocate at Hesser College for 9 years; and as Academic Counselor at Saint Anselm College until her retirement. Sister was an educator at heart, devoted to all of her students. Her deep desire was that her students go beyond what they thought they were capable of, so as to achieve their highest potential in life.
Sister Frances was predeceased by one brother, and both of her parents.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Tuesday, December 26, 2017 at the Sisters of Holy Cross, 357 Island Pond Road, Manchester. Burial followed in St. Augustin Cemetery, Manchester.
