Sr. Georgette R. Caron

Sister Georgette R. Caron (Sister Georgette of Auvergne) of the Sisters of Holy Cross passed away on November 21, 2021 at the age of 96.

She was born in Nashua, NH on April 12, 1925 to Dominique and Alma (Ouellette) Caron. Sister entered the Sisters of Holy Cross in 1942 and made her final profession in 1949. She served the Congregation for 79 years.

Sister Georgette obtained a BA degree from Notre Dame College in Manchester, NH and an MS degree in Biology from Notre Dame University in Indiana. She arrived at Notre Dame College in Manchester, NH after teaching in Montreal, Vermont, New York, and New Hampshire both in elementary and high school.
At Notre Dame College she taught Biology, and served as Resident Director. She was also Chairperson of the Biology Department, of the Cooperative Academic Policy Committee of the Consortium, of the Curriculum Committee, and Lab Coordinator.

Sister Georgette was the recipient of the Professor Emeritus Award and Alumna of the Year from Notre Dame College.

One of her great accomplishments was that of establishing a Holy Cross Scholarship Fund.

After leaving the College she was Director of Transportation at St. George Manor. In 2008 she retired to St. George Manor and in 2016 moved to Holy Cross Health Center.

Sister is predeceased by her parents and her six brothers, Lucien, Lionel, Dollard, Hector, Henri, Andre, and her sister Jeannette Caron, CSC.
Surviving members are her two sisters, Fernande Lavoie, and Lucienne Vaillancourt.

SERVICES: A Celebration of Life will take place Wednesday, December 1st, 2021 at 10:00 AM. The Funeral Mass will take place on Thursday, December 2nd, 2021 at 9:00 AM. Both services will take place at St. George Manor Chapel. Due to COVID-19 restrictions only the Sisters of Holy Cross can be in attendance.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Sister of Holy Cross Development Office Fund and sent to Sisters of Holy Cross, 365 Island Pond Rd. Manchester, NH 03109.
