Sr. Germaine Goyette, CSC, (Sr. Rose Germaine) entered eternal life on January 18, 2024. 

   She was born in Manchester on March 2, 1929, the daughter of Norbert and Rosa (Fortin) Goyette.  She was the sixth of seven children.

   She is predeceased by her parents and her siblings, Gilberte Boucher, Anita Boucher, Carmelle Janelle, Rita Langlois and George Goyette.

   Sr. Germaine is survived by her large family of loved and loving nieces and nephews and by a lifetime of friends, especially her best friend, Lorraine Beaulieu, with whom she attended St. Anthony School and High School beginning in kindergarten

   A Sister of Holy Cross for 73 years, she entered the Congregation in 1950 and pronounced her final vows in 1957. She earned a bachelor’s degree from Notre Dame College in Manchester and two master’s degrees, one in Education from the University of Liberal Arts in North Adams, MA and the other in Psycho-Theology from Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, PA. 

   Sr. Germaine taught and was principal for many years in parochial schools in Massachusetts, Connecticut and New Hampshire.  She also taught English for two years at Notre Dame International School in Rome, Italy and for several years supervised student teachers at Notre Dame College, Southern NH University and Rivier University.

   In retirement, she volunteered as an ESL teacher at Holy Cross Family Learning Center, prepared children to enter the Church through the RCIC program at St. Pius X Parish in Manchester and did some tutoring while a resident at Holy Cross Health Center.

   SERVICES: A special celebration of Sr. Germaine’s life will take place during the last hour of her wake that is scheduled for Thursday (1/25) from 2 to 4 p.m. in the chapel of St. George Manor, 357 Island Pond Rd., Manchester.   A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday (1/26) at 10 a.m. in the chapel at St. George Manor.

   Memorial donations may be made to the Holy Cross Development Fund, 365 Island Pond Rd., Manchester, NH 03109. 

   Lambert Funeral Home & Crematory, Manchester is assisting with arrangements.
