Sr. Helene Bissonnette, p.m.

Sister Helene Bissonnette, p.m. (Marie St. Felix) of the Sisters of the Presentation of Mary, died at the age of 89 on June 20, 2026, at Elliot Hospital in Manchester, New Hampshire.

Born in Blackstone, Massachusetts, on November 2, 1936, she was the youngest of six children of the late Archille and Caroline (Chamberland) Bissonnette. She professed her vows as a Sister of the Presentation of Mary in Hudson, New Hampshire, on February 2, 1957. 

Sister Helene earned a Bachelor of Arts in General Education, a Master of Arts in Education Administration, and a Master of Arts in Christian Spirituality. She dedicated many years to Catholic education, serving as a teacher and Principal in schools throughout Massachusetts and Maine. She later served as Director of the Marie Joseph Spiritual Center in Biddeford, Maine, and for many years was a Spiritual Director for the Cursillo Women’s Retreat at St. Basil’s Seminary in Methuen, Massachusetts. Most recently, she resided at St. Joseph Infirmary on Mammoth Road in Manchester, NH. 

Throughout her religious life, Sister Helene also served her community in numerous leadership roles, including vocation coordinator, local superior, Provincial Councilor, and Provincial Superior of the Methuen Province for nine years.

She was predeceased by her parents, Archille and Caroline (Chamberland) Bissonnette, as well as her siblings Lucille, Jeannette, Adrien, Herve, and Leo. She was a beloved aunt to many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Presentation of Mary, 495 Mammoth Road, Manchester, NH 03104, on Thursday, June 25, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. The wake will take place prior to the Mass from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. The burial will be private.
