Sr. Janet Belcourt, CSC

Sister Janet Belcourt (Sr. Mary Roland of the Sacred Heart) passed away at the Holy Cross Health Center November 15, 2025. She was born in Manchester, NH on June 15, 1934 to Roland J. and Fabiola (Hemond) Belcourt. In 1955, she entered the Congregation of the Sisters of Holy Cross where she pronounced her final vows in 1962.

Her first years in ministry were spent as an elementary school teacher in New Hampshire and Vermont parish schools. Following this, she served for several years as principal of St. George School in Manchester. Woman of Holy Cross, educator, administrator, people-person, Sr. Janet then went on to give of herself for several decades at St. Catherine of Siena Parish in Manchester both as principal of the elementary school and as administrator of the religious education program there. All who participated as teachers or students were welcomed with a generous and warm smile, but families in need received special attention.

Sr. Janet was predeceased by both parents as well as by her sister, Lucille (Belcourt) Grzymkowski. Lucille’s children and grandchildren continued to enjoy very close family ties with Sr. Janet. They join in sympathy with Sr. Janet’s religious community both in grieving her loss and entrusting her to the Eternal to whom she had consecrated her life and in whom she is now resting in peace.

The wake for Sister Janet Belcourt is scheduled for Thursday, November 20 beginning at 2:00 p.m. with Celebration of Life prayer at 3:00 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Friday, November 21. Both services will take place in the chapel of St. George Manor at 357 Island Pond Road in Manchester, NH.

In addition, a memorial Mass will be held on Wednesday, November 26th at 10 am in St. Catherine of Siena Church, corner of Webster and Hemlock Streets, Manchester.
