Sr. Jeanne Messier, PM, (Sr. Marie-du-Carmel), 84, of the Sisters of the Presentation of Mary in Manchester, died January 21, 2016 at her residence.
She was born in Manchester, on July 25, 1931 to Louis-Philippe and Isabelle (Desmarais) Messier. She made her religious profession to the Sisters of the Presentation of Mary on February 2, 1953.
Sr. Jeanne received her bachelor's degree in education from Rivier University in Nashua and pursued studies at Notre Dame University of Cotabato in the Philippine Islands. She ministered as a missionary in the Philippine Islands, taught in elementary schools in New Hampshire, and served at various communities in the state. Sr. Jeanne retired in 1991 at St. Joseph's Residence in Manchester.
She was predeceased by her parents; two sisters, Therese Welsh, and Gertrude Messier; and two brothers, Louis and Maurice Messier.
Survivors include one brother, Robert Messier; and sister-in-law Loretta Messier; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
SERVICES: Calling hours are Wednesday from 2 to 5 pm with a prayer service at 4 pm in the Resurrection Chapel of St. Marie Residence, 495 Mammoth Road, Manchester. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Thursday at 10:30 am in the Resurrection Chapel. Burial will be in Presentation of Mary Cemetery in Hudson.
