Sr. Joan Joyal, p.m., 74, of Sisters of the Presentation of Mary, died August 25, 2018 at her residence.
She was born in Detroit, MI on December 10, 1943 to Ephrem and Regina (Seney) Joyal. She made her religious profession in August 1969. Sr. Joan earned her BA and Masters Degrees in Education at Rivier University. She taught in NH high schools and was a high school guidance director at PMA, in Hudson, for 12 years. During this time, she was also involved in the Adult Ecumenical Sacred Dance Choir. Sr. Joan served on the Rivier College Board of Trustees as well as on the Board of Trustees of Anne Marie House in Hudson. She was then assigned to Rivier University as Academic Advisor of Academic Advisement, Associate Dean, and until 2018, Associate Registrar.
Family includes three cousins, Joyce Douglas, Susan Curran, and Marie Deady all of MA; and by a very close childhood friend, whom she considered as a sister, Carolle Harris, and Janice O'Leary both of MI. She was predeceased by both of her parents.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Wednesday, September 5, 2018 in the Resurrection Chapel of Ste. Marie Residence, 495 Mammoth Rd., Manchester. Private burial will be in Presentation of Mary Cemetery, Hudson.
