Sister Louise Fafard, CSC, (Sister Mary Alphonse of the Savior) age 96, died October 11, 2016 at Elliot Hospital after a period of declining health.
She was born in New Bedford, MA on September 14, 1920, the daughter of Alphonse and Marguerite (Gasse) Fafard. Sister Louise entered the Congregation of the Holy Cross in 1937 and made her final profession in 1944. She served the Congregation for 79 years. She retired to St. George Manor in 2001 and transferred to Holy Cross Health Center in 2010.
Sister Louise taught in elementary parochial schools under the direction of the Sisters of the Holy Cross in Montreal, Quebec; Springfield, Attleboro, and New Bedford, MA; Nashua, Rochester, and Manchester, NH; and N. Grosvenordale, CT. She was a dietician in New Market and Rollinsford, and was also a Pastoral Minister at Merrimack County Nursing Home for 23 years.
She was predeceased by her brother Donat Fafard; and sister Sister Marie Rose Fafard, CSC. She is survived by her sister Donalda Robitaille; brother Henry Fafard; sister-in-law Loretta Fafard; and several nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Monday, October 17, 2016 at St. George Chapel, 357 Island Pond Road, Manchester. Burial will take place in St. Augustin Cemetery, Manchester.
