Sr. Lucille Y. Blais (Sr. Mary Gerard, Martyr), of the Sisters of the Holy Cross, passed away on September 6, 2021 at the age of 93. She was in her 74th year of religious life. She pronounced her final vows in 1954.
Sr. Lucille was the daughter of the late Arthur and Claire (Lacroix) Blais. She was born in Springfield, MA where she graduated from St. Joseph Elementary and Cathedral High School.
She received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Notre Dame College after which she earned several credits Maine University, NHTI, Plymouth State College and St. Mary of the Woods, Terre Haute, IN.
Among her teaching assignments were St. Albans, VT, Montreal, PQ, Canada, Adams and Springfield, MA and Manchester, Nashua, Rollinsford and Franklin, NH. After leaving full-time teaching, Sr. Lucille served as a tutor and a teacher's aide in several schools. She also worked as a receptionist at Blessed Sacrament Friary in Manchester, NH for five and a half years and visited many homebound parishioners.
In addition to her sisters in Holy Cross, Sr. Lucille is survived by her loving sister, Rita and brother-in-law as well as many cherished nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, her brother, Harvey and sister-in-law, Yvette.
Service will be held at a later date. Private burial was at St. Augustin Cemetery in Manchester, NH.
