Sr. Vivian Pichette, CSC, 90, of the Sisters of Holy Cross, Manchester, died September 11, 2017 at her residence after a brief illness.
She was born in Manchester on June 29, 1927 to Gerard and Valeda (Breton) Pichette. She entered the Congregation of the Sisters of Holy Cross in 1946. She then entered the Congregation of the Sisters of Charity of Ottawa (Grey Nuns) in 1949. She made her final profession in 1955.
Sr. Vivian earned her BA and MA from Notre Dame College, Manchester. She taught elementary and parochial schools and at Holy Cross kindergarten in Manchester. Her earlier assignments were in Ogdensburg, NY and Lowell, MA. She transferred to the Sisters of Holy Cross in 1979, thus serving the church for 71 years.
She was predeceased by her parents.
The family includes four sisters, Lorraine Plourde of Sunland, CA, Muriel Luis of Manchester, Madeleine Deshaies of Litchfield, and Claire Dorval of Bedford; and nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Monday, September 18, 2017 in the chapel at the Sisters of Holy Cross, 357 Island Pond Rd., Manchester. Burial followed in St. Augustin Cemetery.
