Stanley E. Drewniak, 89, of Manchester died May 15, 2015 at the VA Medical Center in Manchester after a brief illness.
Born in Manchester on March 23, 1926, he was the son of Wojciech and Julia (Lawalsczyk) Drewniak. He was educated in the local school system and attended Manchester Central High School.
Stanley is a veteran of the US Navy, having served in WWII and Korea. He took immense pride in his service to his country, having enlisted at the age of 16 and again at the onset of the Korean War.
Following his time in the service, Stanley was the owner and operator of Drewniak Crane service in Manchester.
He will be remembered as a very dedicated and loyal man, providing for his children and caring for his late wife Geraldine, whom he lost to a long battle with Parkinson's Disease in 1985.
The hard work and perseverance that Stanley learned in the Navy is something that he carried with him throughout his life. Even at age 89, he could be found tending to his house, shoveling snow, or raking leaves. He took great pride in his work ethic and even more so in the fact he passed that quality on to his children. Later in life, he adopted a dog named Tucker who became his best friend and shadow for his last years. Whether it was sitting in the shade watching cars drive by, or out for a drive in the morning (Tucker's favorite) one was rarely seen without the other.
Family members include his six children, Daniel Drewniak, Susan Jodoin, Stephen Drewniak, Stanley Drewniak, Mary Connolly Drewniak, and Martha Moritz; his long-time companion Gloria Benjamin; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
The funeral service was held on Tuesday, May 19, 2015 in the chapel at Lambert Funeral Home & Crematory, 1799 Elm St, Manchester. A graveside committal service with military honors followed in the NH State Veterans Cemetery, Boscawen.
Donations may be made in his memory to the Liberty House (Shelter for Homeless Veterans), 75 West Baker St, Manchester, NH 03103.
