Born in Gloucester, MA on April 23, 1924, he was the son of Herbert and Marion (Davison) Menken. He lived in Manchester for many years.
During World War II he served in the US Air Force as a navigator.
He graduated from Northeastern University and New York University.
Mr. Menken was a math teacher in Connecticut for 5 years, then was an insurance underwriter at New Hampshire Insurance Company for 25 years.
The family includes his wife of 34 years, Muriel J. (Gregoire) Menken of Manchester; three sons, Paul W. Menken, Thomas F. Menken and John A. Menken all of Manchester; cousins, nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Saturday, December 27, 2008 at Blessed Sacrament Church, 14 Elm St., Manchester. Committal prayers followed in the chapel at St. Augustin Cemetery, So. Beech St., Manchester.
Lambert Funeral Home & Crematory, 1799 Elm St., Manchester assisted the family with arrangements.
