Sylvia Gould Denton, 85, of Manchester died June 6, 2018 at Hanover Hill Healthcare Center after a lengthy illness.
Born in St. Louis, MO on September 23, 1932, she was the daughter of Jesse and Dorothy (West) Gould. She was raised in Wolfeboro, NH and attended Brewster Academy. She earned her degree from Simmons College.
Prior to retirement, she had been employed as a bookkeeper for Ben Franklin Craft Stores. She had also previously worked as a para-legal for the McLane Middleton Law firm in Manchester.
Sylvia was affiliated with several Unitarian Universalist Churches and served in many capacities for several years.
Her interests included music, reading, knitting, needlepoint and Hardanger embroidery. She was a member of Saffron and Indigo and Society of Needleworkers. She belonged to the Simmons Club.
Family members include her daughters, Kimberly D. Stephen and husband Chuck of Manchester, Robin D. Dressel and partner Les Friedman of Plains, PA; one son, Benjamin G. Denton of Oakland, CA; three grandchildren, Nicholas, Thomas and Mary Stephen; one sister, Jeannette Morrison of Bedford Village, NY; a brother, Kenneth H. Gould of Exeter, NH. Cousins Cynthia Reik of East Hartford, CT, Alice Batchelor of Falmouth, MA and Norman Gould of Wilton, ME . Several cousins, nieces and their families as well.
A Celebration of Life was held on Saturday, June 30, 2018 at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Manchester, NH.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to the Star Island Annual Fund or Ferry Beach Park Association.
