Thelma will be remembered as a loving and devoted mother and grandmother and a wonderful homemaker. An avid gardener throughout her life, Thelma also enjoyed golf and was an ardent reader and solver of crossword puzzles.
She did volunteer work for organizations such as the Red Cross and Parent Teachers Association and also had brief careers as a secretary and real estate broker.
Thelma is survived by two daughters: Janis Theodore of Pittsfield, MA and her husband, Geoffrey Craig, and Linda McDonald of Ojo Caliente, NM; three grandchildren: Jedd Hall of Lenox Dale, MA and his wife, Sandra, Sean McDonald of Pittsburgh, IL and his wife, Rebecca, and Craig McDonald of Umea, Sweden and his wife, Johanna and eight great grandchildren.
The family will hold a memorial service in October 2009. Details concerning the service will be published in early October. In lieu of flowers, it was Thelma's wish that memorial donations be made to the Thelma H. Nelson Memorial Fund, Skin Cancer Foundation, 149 Madison Avenue, Suite 901, New York, NY 10157-1672.
